THE first lay-day of the Margaret River Pro was called on Friday due to inconsistent waves.
ASP commissioner Kieren Perrow made the decision to put the competition on standby after checking conditions early in the morning.
He explained there were a few good waves here and there with offshore conditions at Margaret River’s Mainbreak, but the inconsistency made it difficult to hold a heat.
However, forecast reports suggest the conditions will improve by tomorrow, hopefully giving the contest a great run during the weekend.
“We’re looking at two-to-three days of really good swell now,” Mr Perrow said.
“Unfortunately we’re probably going to get some onshore winds throughout the end of that.”
Competitors are currently waiting for the Men’s Round 2 and Women’s Quarterfinals to take place.
The next call will be made at 6.30am on Saturday.
