MORE than 1300 people dressed in cow onesies descended upon Cowaramup Oval on Saturday to set a new world record.
Absolutely blitzing the old Guinness record for Most People Dressed as Cows in one place, which belonged to the town of Fairfax in the US and stood at 470, Cowaramup residents were surprised at how many visitors the challenge attracted. People from Perth, Bunbury, Capel, Mandurah and Busselton travelled to help the crowd soar past their goal of 600 cow onesies.
“We’ve got 1400 registered, which is about 1000 more than the old record,” Cowaramup resident Neil Earl told the crowd.
“We’d thought we might get about 700!”
The official count reached 1352 (approved costumes), before people were left to enjoy the activities at the Deja Moo fair, including milking demonstrations, gumboot toss, a bouncy castle and market stalls.
Deb “Spoons” Perry from Australia’s Got Talent put on a fitting live show, performing to I’m a Cow by the Wiggles.
