Work experience: Zachary cops it

IT’S not every student that gets to spend their work experience placing in the police station.

Margaret River Senior High School year 12 student Zachary McDonald had to do a lot of paperwork to get his placing at the Margaret River Police Sation.

However, the aspiring police officer is loving being an ‘observation only’ cadet at the station for two weeks.

Zachary, aka ‘Agent Max’, gets to cruise around with the officers and see that even the coppers have their good moments.

“I haven’t stopped smiling since I’ve got here,” he said, on Friday. “It’s the best time ever.”

This is his second time doing work experience with the local station – keen Zachary has already put in an application for a cadetship.

Senior Constable Leon Parish said Zachary had gone out on observation with the officers, learned court procedures, and gathered experience about the highs and lows of the job in the pathway to a cadetship. “Police do have fun!” Const Parish said.
