World’s Greatest Shave @ Electric Tattoo | Photos

Margaret River tattoo studio Electric Tattoo held a fundraiser in aid of the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave event on Saturday.

Brave soul Sammi Thomas put her locks on the line, raising a whopping $850 to shave her head for the cancer cause.

“I just thought it was a really good reason to do it, everyone here is raising money for the foundation and I just thought, why not my hair?” Ms Thomas said after taking her seat under the clippers, wielded first by her mother, and then ably assisted by tattoo artist and hand-poke tattoo specialist Cory Wesley.

A small group of staff and friends supported Ms Thomas as she watched her hair fall, grasping at a couple of ponytails lopped off early in the shave session.

The artists hosted the “Flash Day” event to raise money and awareness for the foundation, offering ‘flash’ designs - small, simple, but expertly drawn tattoos at an affordable price.

Ms Thomas said she was proud of her efforts and the rest of the studio, but noted it would take some time to get used to her new look.

“It feels weird,” she said as she checked out the results in a mirror. “I like it, I just have to get used to it feeling like velcro for a while!”
