AUGUSTA: After a late decision to play it turned into a massive day for David Reid at the Augusta Butcher’s 4BBB on Sunday when he aced the difficult 145m 6th hole with a soft nine iron.
Luckily for him, a hole in one on that hole is also sponsored by Sports Power Margaret River.
Not only did he manage that never to be forgotten feat, but he had joined with Joyce Challis who thrives on these team games to also take the win on the day with 45 points from runners up Norah Johnson and Trevor Buller just one point behind.
Nearest the pins went to Kim Darragh, Norah Johnson x2, Joyce Challis and Ian Mumme. All the players helped David celebrate after the game spruiking their own achievements or near misses on the day.
Saturday’s stableford men’s competition was played in very windy conditions but that didn’t stop Graham Bodycoat having a great round and running away with the victory with a gross of 79 for 45 points.
His nearest challenger was runner up Jim Swarbrick with 40 points with Ian Mumme on 38 taking third after a countback from Joe Italiano. Nearest the pins went to Graham Bodycoat, Les Castle and Barry Brown.
Next weekend features a Stableford for the men sponsored by BP Regional Fuels on the Saturday and a mixed American Fours sponsored by Jill Perkins on the Sunday. – Nick Dornan
