The Margaret River A2 Women are through to the grand final next weekend after defeating Capel in the Preliminary Final 6-1.
Margaret River took control of the game from the first push back.
Debbie Storey scored her first of three goals within the first 2 minutes of the game, through an accurate pass from Janet Smith into the D.
The next push back Margaret River turned the ball over in the mid field and with accurate passing Claire Seiber scored the second goal for Margaret River.
Storey scored her second goal at the 25 minute mark of the first half through a well-timed pass from junior player Kiri Mann.
After the break Margaret River came out determined not to lose their 3- 0 lead. Capel’s defensive players ensured that Margaret River were not given any easy goals in the second half.
At the 42 minute mark of the game Helen O’Neill was able to take advantage of a penalty corner opportunity with an accurate hit on goal.
The next passage of play saw Storey score her third goal for the game.
With only two minutes to go in the game Margaret River was awarded another penalty corner, again O’Neill was on target.
Next week Margaret River will take on Country’s Women determined to avenge their loss in the first semi-final round, and win back to back premierships.
