The St Thomas More Catholic Primary School sports fundraiser took on a slightly different hue this year with the first Colour Run at the Margaret River school on Friday.
Students, teachers and parents took advantage of a stunning day of sunshine to get out on the oval and take part in the fun run, which saw a group of brave adults volunteering to douse the young athletes in brightly coloured paint powders as they ticked off another lap.
Teacher Michael O’Brien said the fundraiser was well supported by the school community and that funds would be used to assist with travel costs for student trips outside of the region.
“It can cost well over a thousand dollars to take a bus to Perth, so the costs add up pretty quickly.” Mr O’Brien said.
“We decided to turn this year’s fun run into a colour run and add a bit of a different element, and I’m pleased to say it has been really well supported and we’ve raised a great figure for our fundraising targets.”
