Fred Reidy is a man on a mission.
On the eve of launching his new venture, River Doggs, the Margaret River local is keen to bring a new style of takeaway to hungry residents of the town.
”We really want to bring the convenience of takeaway food to your door, but in a way that shakes up the traditional stand-and-wait takeaway place,” he said.
The delivery service will offer a range of delicious gourmet hot dogs, made entirely from locally sourced ingredients.
“Even the sauces are made using produce from the Garden Basket, we get our sauerkraut from Dunsborough, and Mick at Margaret River Gourmet Meats is responsible for our unreal dogs,” Reidy said.
”The dogs are fresh, made from organic, local meats and there’s a killer vegan option. They won’t leave you feeling heavy and wasted, like some other convenience food can do.”
Reidy said the small team of producers and local staff had worked hard to create signature sauces and a locally-driven menu.
“These hot dogs are pretty big, and they are a substantial meal – all dogs come with our signature roasted spuds and aioli as well for $19 including delivery.”
Rather than using a shopfront, River Doggs is delivery only, calling on the popularity of services like Uber Eats and Deliveroo, not currently available in the region.
“Let’s face it in a wine region when we are at home indulging in a few bevvies or after a day of wine and beer tasting, there’s always that issue of organising a decent dinner.
“At this point we aim to serve Gracetown, Cowaramup, Witchcliffe, Prevelly and Margaret River, because a lot of those places lack any easy takeaway options, especially at night.”
Reidy said he was looking forward to the first night of delivery this Friday, December 8 and hoped the community would support the idea.
River Doggs is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5pm until late from this Friday. For information and menu updates visit www.facebook.com/riverdoggs. To place an order call 0481 849 291.
