The Margaret River Hawks had their second triple header of the season and unfortunately went down in all three grades.
With many regular players unavailable for various reasons, the Hawks went into the games undermanned but confident of good performances.
The A grade lost the toss and were sent into the field with Rumesh Silva the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 30 from 10 overs. YOBS made 9 for 200 and with a fast-paced outfield and good wicket, Hawks were confident.
But things got off to the worst possible start with Joyce dismissed for a golden duck before Garstone was out with the score on 10.
Earl was joined at the crease by Rhys Wilmott who looked good in his comeback match for the club.
Earl was dismissed for 19, Willmott for 8, Tognolini 4 and Robins 0 to rip the heart out of the Hawks.
Jude Shinnick made 15 and Silva kept his wicket for an unbeaten 22. However, it was YOBS who rolled through the home team to claim a bonus point victory.
The B grade were confident of a win after their brilliant win over flag fancies Saints the week before.
Also playing YOBS, Hawks were batting first and made 125 with Col Baker making 34, Michael Brookes 19, Maurice Shinnick 16 and Al Wilkie 14 the only scores of note. 12 year old Darcy Bailey bowled beautifully in the second innings with 3 for 20 from 4 over but the visitors chased the runs 6 wickets down in the 24th over.
C grade came crashing down to earth with a comprehensive loss to ladder leaders Dunsborough.
Batting first, the visitors scored a mammoth 273 from 39 overs with Joel Lawrence, Danny Weston and Angus Currell all taking up 2 wickets a piece. In reply, the Hawks were dismissed for 68 with Lawrence, (32), Weston (11) and Currell, (11), the only batsmen to reach double figures.
The Hawks would like to make special mention of debutantes on Saturday in Danny Weston, Mark Jones, Malakai Whologan and Roan Murray.
Congratulations to Mark Jones for his 50 in the juniors in the morning.
The club goes into this weekend’s games needing wins to cement themselves in the top four in B grade, while A and C grade will push for a top four position if victorious.
