The Augusta Golf Club held it’s annual Carlton United Brewers Summer Cup last Sunday with a great turnout of 67 players in the warmth of the summer sun.
The mixed open event saw the men and the ladies battle for their individual honours in pleasant conditions on the course.
There were a raft of good scores among the men aiming to get their name engraved on the Summer Cup, but an excellent 41 points was enough for Club President Jim Swarbrick to clinch victory after a count back from Eric James in second place.
Third place went to Brian Neal after a fine 40 points, Nathan Adams a shot further back taking fourth place.
Best Gross for the day went to Trevor Buller.
The ladies also put together a collection of good scores, the best of which saw Pam Winter take the win with a fine 40 points from runner up Christine McKenna (scoring 39) after a count back from Bunbury’s Danica Lapworth who secured third place in the ladies’ competition.
The perfect day concluded with great fellowship for the players and their guests, with Margaret River golfer Jon Beales not leaving disappointed after winning the raffle for the Jumbo Crayfish.
Mixed summer golf continues every Sunday until the start of the new season in April at the Augusta Club, for more information visit www.augustagolfclub.com.au or call 9758 1432.
