The unofficial launch party of the Flor Marché ‘Titch + Loko’ Trebbiano took place on Saturday February 10 at a secret location in Gracetown.
Invited guests arrived dressed in all-white to celebrate the occasion, and enjoyed a long table dinner event to welcome the newest product for the Wilyabrup winery.
Local chef Claudio Tallarico created a sensational menu for around 80 guests while South West musician Megan Garnett entertained attendees.
The guest of honour for the evening – the 2017 Flor Marché ‘Titch + Loko’ Trebbiano – is sourced from the Swan Valley.
“Trebbiano is an Italian white variety with thick skins that grows well in the hot and humid conditions of the Swan Valley,” said winemaker and owner Elizabeth Reed.
“The dry grown vineyard was planted in 1958 and is incredibly low yielding.”
Ms Reed said she had been working with the Swan Valley vineyard for around four years and continued to experiment with alternative varieties made naturally with low sulphur.
‘”Every year my understanding of the fruit from this vineyard and its nuances expands. It is such a privilege to work with such incredibly old vines,” she said.
“Trebbiano offers an alternative to traditional white varieties and allows me to experiment as a winemaker to craft an interesting and unique wine.
Flor Marché has recently opened a cellar door at 49 Wilyabrup Road, Wilyabrup and is open Thursday to Sunday 10-4pm or by appointment.
