After 18 years of good service, the Kudardup Bush Fire Brigade received a new four-wheel drive 4.4 fire truck equipped with the latest safety and firefighting equipment.
Shire of Augusta Margaret River Community Emergency Service Manager Chris Lloyd said the brigade gladly received the new truck, with its features including:
- Automatic Vehicle Location system (GPS tracking of vehicle)
- Comprehensive Crew Protection System (deluge system consists of water jets spread across the truck to help protect the crew and the truck if impacted by fire/heat)
- Automatic transmission
- Large 4000L water tank
- Dual cab capable of transporting up to six firefighters
- Diesel-powered pump
“The appliance was provided to the Shire with funding from the Emergency Services Levy, which is managed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services,” Mr Llyod said.
“This funding has bolstered our fleet and equipment over recent years and has strengthened our capacity to not only respond to fires but also conduct important bushfire mitigation activities such as prescribed burning.
“It is great to see that the ESL is benefiting our community and we are very appreciative for that.”
As a result of the upgraded truck, the Kudardup fire station is now undergoing shed extensions to ensure it fits in the facility.
The shed additions are jointly funded between the Shire and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services Emergency Services Levy.
