Arts Margaret River is gearing up for the 10th anniversary of its annual Readers & Writers Festival to be held on the long weekend from June 1 to June 3.
To help with the delivery of the three day festival, which will be held at Voyager Estate for the first time due to renovations at the Cultural Centre, the arts organisation is calling for volunteers to help in a range of roles.
“We are really reliant on our volunteers and we would not be able to run this festival without assistance,” said Festival Director Kerrie Yabsley.
“The number of volunteers required and the variety of job roles has increased considerably so we hope to get a large volume of helpers.”
Voyager Estate will become a hive of activity with two large marquees to be erected for author talks, a Festival box office, dining marquee, food vans, market stalls and more planned for the venue.
In addition to the events at Voyager, a number of feature events and workshops will be held at other locations within the Shire.
“As a not-for-profit organisation, the Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival relies on the generous support of volunteers to assist with the set-up, running and pack-down of the festival which has grown in size each year.”
An information and recruitment evening is being held on Wednesday 18 April at the Margaret River District Club from 6pm to 7pm.
Ms Yabsley encouraged people with a friendly, ‘can-do’ attitude to attend the session to find out how they can be part of the event.
“If you are unable to attend the information night but would like to help out, please contact us via email or phone,” she said.
