Two workshops will be held this week aimed at providing local residents with the information and advice to carry out safe burnoffs and to help reduce fire fuel loads ahead of the next bushfire season.
Established by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and Parks and Wildlife, the Winter Burning Workshops will help locals with advice on ways to manage vegetation on properties of 5 hectares or less.
Attendees will be able to learn practical skills to safely use fire to reduce fuel loads, and traditional burning knowledge and burning for biodiversity.
The Winter Burning Workshops will be held this Sunday May 20 at 36 Baker Close, Augusta (9.30am – 11.30am) and 213 Wilderness Road, Margaret River (1pm – 3pm).
Attendees are asked to wear sturdy shoes and warm clothing. To register for a workshop please email steph.debruin@dfes.wa.gov.au
