Australian cellist Anthony Albrecht will bring his ‘Bach to the Bush’ concert series to Margaret River this weekend, as part of a Western Australian leg of the exhaustive tour schedule.
The young musician is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School's prestigious Historical Performance program, and is currently based in London.
He returns regularly to his home country for performances with Pinchgut Opera and the Australian Haydn Ensemble, and has recorded for ABC Classics and VIA Records (New York City).
During the two-hour concerts, audience members will hear selections from J.S. Bach's suites for solo cello, interspersed with other short, early works for the instrument as well as discussion of the historical and cultural context of this timeless music.
In response to the recent tragic events in the Margaret River region, Albrecht will donate $10 from every ticket sale to Lifeline, the suicide prevention hotline.
Albrecht said he offered the Margaret River concert as “an opportunity for healing, reflection and hope in the face of the incomprehensible.”
Bach to the Bush is at St Margaret’s Anglican Church, 11 Station Road Margaret River on Sunday May 27 from 3.00pm.
