The Augusta Community Resource Centre has secured a grant from the federal government’s Building Better Regions Fund to launch a new festival for the South West.
The centre will receive more than $9,900 for the Augusta Cultural and Heritage Winter Festival.
The Augusta Community Resource Centre management and committee have matched the grant dollar for dollar.
The festival will be held in 2019 and span several days.
It will be one of the centre’s biggest projects to date.
The Augusta Cultural and Heritage Winter Festival will include tours of historical sites, plus heritage talks and Indigenous culture talks.
The festival will be a family-friendly affair and timed to be held alongside the region’s whale watching season.
The Augusta Community Resource Centre has worked with other stakeholders, including the Augusta Chamber of Commerce, The Historical Society, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and Indigenous groups, to make the project a reality.
