Rotary Margaret River has said a huge thank you to the community after a successful wood raffle at the end of June.
The raffle raised $366 which will go towards year 12 students volunteering in Timor-Leste. The wood was kindly donated by Lions Club of Cowaramup.
As part of their end of school celebrations, year 12 students can volunteer for up to two weeks in Timor-Leste to work on community projects which provide much needed infrastructure.
They will also help provide goods to assist locals to function effectively. This year we have 16 students who have committed to travel to Timor and who are all very excited about the trip.
The program is supported by generous donations from the Lions Clubs of Margaret River, Leeuwin and Cowaramup and the Rotary Club of Margaret River.
Lynne Warren from Rotary said it was great to see so much support on what was a ‘very cold and wet Saturday morning’.
“The lucky winner was C Hodson, Red Ticket F58, drawn by Jacob from Sidekick Café.”
