There were countless reasons to venture out on a cold South West winter’s night on Friday, thanks to the inaugural Margaret River Night Market Food Truck Frenzy.
Held as part of the Cabin Fever festivities, the event drew locals and visitors alike to the Margaret River Education Campus, where the Southern Tafe winery building was transformed into a hawker style food market.
Stalls and food trucks manned by local chefs, already popular fixtures on the region’s dining landscape, had lines snaking around the venue while a licensed bar area and live music kept spirits high.
The venue proved a successful choice for the weather – a bit of rain and the cold night air barely registering against plumes of wok smoke and oversized grills.
Event co-organiser Katrina Lombardo said the early feedback and turnout was overwhelmingly positive.
“It’s awesome to see so many people out here enjoying the food tonight, we’re very excited,” she said.
“It certainly tells us there is a demand for these type of local night markets, even in winter!”
