Fans of Perth-born and raised vocal loop artist Sam Perry are in for a treat this December as the 27 year old winner of The Voice Australia 2018 brings his Australian tour to Settlers Tavern for his only regional WA tour date.

Perry is also on the hunt for locally grown talent from cities and towns on the tour to accompany him as a support act, selecting one young artist from each state to open the show.

Perry said he hoped to provide gig opportunities to talented new musicians.

“Starting out as a local artist in a small town, I know all too well how hard it can be to meet the right people, and be heard amongst the already established bands,” he said.

“I'm not great at networking and there is not really a rule book to follow.

“All I knew, is that I wanted to perform to a room of people, that were there to listen.

“I can't wait to hear all your music, and find a local support act to join me in their city on my tour around the country.”

Perry’s emergence through The Voice caught the attention of the nation with his quirky take on the singing-based talent show, using beatboxing, singing and vocal looping techniques to create soundscapes that at times created tension between the judges, arguing whether it was fair to have Perry competing against standard vocalists.

Perry said embracing the growing interest in looping allowed the seasoned performer to form his own one man band.

“I think I knew I wanted to make music solo, I had done the whole band thing for over 5 years,” he said.

“What got me into looping was an artist called Dub Fx, I spent countless hours watching his videos on YouTube, as soon as I saw him, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

“I could be my own one man band.”

New music is in the pipeline for the talented West Aussie, which he is keen to showcase in his first national tour.

“I have a lot to do and more to learn, but it’s exciting. I also can’t wait to tour Australia and show everyone what I have been working on.”
