After an incredible season the Football Margaret River Gremlins find themselves clear winners of a highly competitive league.
Their first season playing full FIFA rules on a full size pitch proved to be a smooth transition for this group of talented, determined players and from the first game it was clear to all that they were the team to beat.
With 14 games in the season, they finished with an impressive record of 12 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and a goal tally of 79 for and only 13 against. They play a brand of football far beyond their years and rather than relying on individuals, they play as a squad, utilising every player on the pitch to get the job done, continually making it difficult for opposing teams to compete. Throughout the season I have had a number of the other coaches approach me after the game and commend them on, firstly the way they play the game and secondly how they conduct themselves on and off the pitch, showing respect to officials, coaches and their opponents.
Well done Gremlins you have not only proved to be the league winners, but you done it with a sense of respect that has been noticed by many in the Leeuwin Naturaliste Junior Soccer Association family.
