Margaret River’s rok Kombucha crew are celebrating a big month following their wins at the 2018 Margaret River Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI) Business Excellence awards.
Collecting both the Small and Sensational Award and the overall 2018 Business of the Year Award, co-founder Trent Carroll thanked the entire region for the support shown to them since establishing the business.
“I handed in my dream job – which was winemaking – that was so absolutely crazy, and while I do really miss the paid holidays, and the money, we are all so blessed to be in this region.
“We are all so lucky to be here, I don’t really feel like I’m worthy to be standing here surrounded by all the people in this room.”
Mr Carroll told the crowd at the business awards, held at Eight Willows Retreat late last month, that his day had begun with something many business owners in the region were familiar with – lack of sleep.
Waking during the night, Mr Carroll took a sleeping aid only to be told by his wife and co-founder Amanda that it was in fact 6am on the day of the awards ceremony.
“So that literally is the story of our business, it is so crazy at the moment and I cannot believe I’m standing here.”
“We are proud to be a West Australian, regional business and the awards are recognition of how far we have come in such a short time frame,” Amanda Carroll said.
The business recently announced a partnership with distribution company Monde Nissin Australia, who will supply rok’s products to their grocery distribution network.
“Securing a quality, national, chilled distributor such as Monde Nissan Australia gives rok the means to access and penetrate the kombucha segment within the independent grocery market,” said Mrs Carroll.
“Monde Nissin Australia is widely regarded as the best distributor in the country for independent grocery and have extensive experience bringing premium products to the market, like Nudie Juice, the premium juice offering in Australia.
"Through Monde Nissin’s network, we hope this is where rok will soon sit in the kombucha category.
“e will never compromise the quality of our product for ease of distribution and partnering with Monde Nissin allows us to honour this mandate.”
