The Margaret River Polocrosse Club is proud to have three members representing the club and the state at the Polocrosse National Championships to be held in Perth in October.
Darren Martin, who has competed at more than one previous Nationals is this year competing in the WA Masters Men’s division.
He has previously represented WA at the National Championships in 1990 as an intermediates coach, then as a player in 1994 Open Mixed, 2008 Open Mixed, 2012 Masters Men, 2014 as Coach of Masters Mixed, and in 2016 as a Masters Men player.
In 2016 Darren won a swathe of awards including Best Master Male Number 3, Best Men’s Player, Champion Horse/Rider combination and Best Men’s Horse and Overall Champion Masters on his horse “Spook”.
Adele Martin, Darren’s daughter, competed in the Nationals in 2014 in the Junior girls and 2016 Junior girls. In 2016 Adele won Best Horse in Junior Girls on “Little Boy”.
She was also chosen to represent Australia in the Under 16 Junior Mixed team to visit South Africa in 2016.
In South Africa Adele won Best Horse/Rider combination and Best U16 Junior Girl.
This year Adele has represented W.A. in an U21 squad in Sydney in July. Also this year, she is representing W.A. in the Under 21 Womens team at the Nationals.
Rebecca McMurray has competed for W.A. in Juniors Open in 2012 and Under 21 Womens in 2016, previously, and this year she is competing in the W.A. Intermediate Womens team.
