Local community members and artists aged 17 years and over are being encouraged to enter the upcoming Tick Tock Clocks and Timepieces exhibition and auction..
All entries must integrate working clocks and timepieces into their artwork, and works must be available for sale.
The pieces will be on display in the Augusta Margaret River Shire Foyer from the November 13 to 29 before an auction is held onsite from 6pm on Thursday November 29.
The Clocks and Timepieces exhibition is an Arts Margaret River fundraising initiative, with part proceeds raised from the art auction to go towards the establishment of a community foyer gallery space in the new venue, The Margaret River HEART.
This art exhibition/auction follows on from the very successful ‘Birdhouse and Birdbath’ exhibitions that were held in the Cultural Centre in 2015 and 2016.
Arts Margaret River Foyer Gallery Chair Anne Shepherdson said the exhibition represented a great opportunity for local artists.
“These exhibition/auctions have become a highlight of Arts Margaret River’s cultural calendar,” Mrs Shepherdson said.
“Participating artists receive 60 per cent of the sale price, so it’s a win-win project”.
Foyer Gallery member Kay Gibson said the clock theme was chosen as an interesting and broad subject that could easily be represented in artworks.
“Everyone can do with a great clock in their house and we thought that there would be many simple and interesting ways to represent the theme,” she said.
“We had some wonderful and very clever pieces produced at our recent workshop and the participants were delighted with their resulting clocks.
“Artworks can range from paintings to sculptures and as long as you meet the size constraints on the entry form, the sky’s the limit on how imaginative you can be.
:We really hope that we get a lot of entries and that artists have fun creating their works that the community will enjoy viewing” she said.
Entry into the Exhibition closes on the 31st October 2018 and entry forms can be collected from the Arts Margaret River office at the Community Centre or downloaded from their website at artsmargaretriver.com/tick-tock-art-exhibition-auction/
