A collaboration between Nature Conservation Margaret River and the Margaret River Brewhouse over the past few months has seen vital funds raised for the endangered Western Ringtail possum.
According to the Brewhouse co-owner Ilya Hastings, more than $2,000 was raised for Nature Conservation’s Western Ringtail Possum conservation program through sales of the specially-brewed Possum Pale Ale at the venue during August and September.
Mr Hastings said that in addition to raising funds, sale of Possum Pale Ale provided many opportunities for staff to engage with Brewhouse patrons about the region’s ringtail conservation program and other wildlife values.
”The Margaret River community is very environmentally aware and this provided a great opportunity to chat about what’s happening with our local habitat and how volunteer involvement can help,” Mr Hastings said.

Volunteer surveying programs are undertaken across the region to help get a better picture of where ringtails live and how they use the local environment.
