The Margaret River Community Centre for Children will host their second Community Intercultural Event this weekend, aimed at providing a free, play based family story time that focuses on cultural awareness.
Centre Coordinator Lynda Green said the day, held in partnership with local Meire de Mello and the AMR Shire offered a family-friendly day celebrating a range of cultures found in the region.
“Meire has a background in education and has worked as a cultural support worker, helping unaccompanied young adults from overseas find their way in a new culture.
“Now she is happy to share the benefits of grassroots intercultural programs in the South West.”
Ms de Mello’s storytime will be followed by music, light refreshments and craft activities.
Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and fancy dress for the parade to be held at the conclusion of the event.
The free Community Intercultural Event is at the Margaret River Community Centre at 33 Tunbridge Street on Saturday November 17 from 11am – 1pm.
