Margaret River golfers in fine form for New Year

With beautiful Summer weather all week there’s no better time for a game of golf down at the Margaret River Golf Club. 

This week’s Tuesday Veterans 9-hole Stableford competition we saw first place going to our Vets Captain Jim Watson (21), in second was Michael Beale (19) and third place went to John Agnew (17). 

Wednesday Women’s 18-hole Stableford competition had Leonie Bell first (40), Laurie Barker second (38c/b) and Anne Kendra third (37c/b) “Aquatic Vision – Matthew Webb” sponsored our Thursday Men’s Scroungers 18-hole Stableford event.

First place went to Phil McCann (40c/b), second place went to Matthew Webb (40) and Colin Clark came in third (39c/b). 

Friday’s mixed 9-hole stableford saw First Man going to Jim Taylor (17c/b), First Woman went to Joan Garstone (17c/b) and Overall Third went to Terry Haywood (17). 

Saturday’s Men’s 18-hole Stableford Event sponsored by “South West Quad Repairs – Mark Pope”, saw Wayne Clark come in first place (43), Mervan Howe (Mosman Park GC) in second place (41) and Bill Smith in third (38). 

Sunday’s 18-hole mixed stableford event sponsored by Southern Workwear had a great field playing in amazing weather with the ladies taking out first, second and third places on the day.

First place went to Roslyn Cummings (38), second place going to Joanne Booker (37c/b) and third to Wendy Chidgey (37).

Another year of golf on our magnificent course has passed with visitors increasing over the holiday season to take in the sweeping views and capture an image of a kangaroo, while enjoying our green fairways.

Thursday’s men’s scroungers sponsored by AFox Plumbing saw a great field of 99 players, first place went to visitor David Goyder (41) from Mosman Park Golf Club, second place went to Stuart Currell (39) and Eric James from Augusta Golf Club was third place (38c/b). 

The Friday Mixed Competition was won by Peter Brennan (18).

Best woman went to Barbara Webster on (18).

Saturday’s men’s stableford sponsored by Wayne Clarke saw Steel Cassidy come in first (40), second was Roy Warren (38) and third was Tim Fox (37).

Sunday’s Mixed 4BBB sponsored by Stay@MargaretRiver had a great turn out seeing players enjoying the last mixed game of golf of the year, everyone enjoyed themselves.

First place went to our President Barry Granville and his partner Derek Simpson scoring a total of 50, in second place close behind with 49 was David and Ricky Coates third place went to our new Captain John Bell and his wife Leonie with a score of 44.
