Looking for a cruisy way to wind down the weekend in the heart of the South West?
Arts Margaret River will once again be presenting the annual free family friendly Sundowner concerts at Pioneer Park Cowaramup this summer.
This year the format for the Sundowners has changed to two Sunday concerts, with an extended four hour time slot each week.
The new format will feature three live bands, a bouncy castle, children’s entertainment and activities and local community food stalls.
Organiser Steph Kreutzer said Arts Margaret River was passionate about supporting local and young emerging musicians while selecting music from a variety of genres to cater to all tastes.
”We have been working on improving the events each year,” Ms Kreutzer said.
“Improvements such as sound and lighting, additional toilets, parking attendants and recycling facilities were a focus last year.
“This year we will be adding a bouncy castle, children’s entertainment, face painting and story- telling to keep the little ones entertained.
“The evening session has been extended to 8pm for those who want to linger on and dance into the evening.”
Ms Kreutzer said the relaxed Sunday concerts were a great way for the arts organisation to give back to the community, while giving audiences a chance to experience differing music styles.
“Importantly, it enables low income families within the district the opportunity to attend a concert as a family group,” she said.
“Friends and family, some comprising four generations, gather on the lawn and delight in the location, ambience and music.
“The event also provides an opportunity for the Cowaramup Lions, Cowaramup Tennis Club and Cowaramup P&C to raise funds through their food and drinks stalls.
The Sundowner Sessions are supported by local businesses and donations by the public on the day are welcomed.
