Talented local musicians are tuning up for the inaugural Gimme Shelter music fundraiser on this Saturday at The River Hotel, in support of Just Home Margaret River.
Organised by a passionate group of locals to raise awareness and funds to assist families and individuals experiencing housing stress and homelessness in the region, the event will boast a lineup packed with some of the South West’s favourite acts.
As well as live music throughout the event, raffles, a silent auction, and door prizes will be up for grabs.
Just Home Deputy Chair Craig Mathieson said he was overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses and musicians.
“I am so grateful to the businesses that have donated funds and goods for the raffles, silent auction prizes and door prizes.
There are some fantastic things to be won and we have a fantastic line up on the night,” he said.
The event is the brainchild of talented musician and local GP, Dr Gary Wilson.
“I have been involved with other music fundraisers in the past and they are a good way to raise funds, bring the local community together and at the same time enjoy a night of great music, laughs and fun,” Dr Wilson said.
“For the Gimme Shelter concert there’s been a lot of collaborations from musos that don’t usually perform together and they will be doing special songs for the night so everyone will be in for a treat.
“Riversong Choir will be opening the event at 5.30pm sharp so I encourage people to pre-book and rock up early on the day,” he said.
The inaugural Gimme Shelter line-up includes some of the region’s most loved musicians including Tony Lane, Dave Seegar, Mike Goodwin, Roger Renolds, Lindsay Baker, John Beatty, Steve and Peter Fagan and many more.
The event kicks off at 5pm on Saturday February 23 and will include a mix of live music and DJ sets with a few surprise guest performances thrown in.
All committee members, musicians and the event’s sound technician are donating their time and all funds raised at Gimme Shelter will be donated directly to Just Home Margaret River.
