Students at Margaret River Independent School enjoyed a special activity recently with Wadandi custodian and mentor, Josh Whiteland.
Mr Whiteland joined Year 3 students at the school this week to help them create their own digging sticks.
Using peeled-back Wannang (peppy) branches and Balga (grass tree) resin, the group fashioned a handle which was then decorated with emu feathers.
The children will get to keep the sticks upon graduation from the MRIS Tour Guiding Program, where students learn to lead visitors through the Nyindamurra Nature Trail within the school grounds.
