Coming out of its foundation year, the Board at Rapids Landing Primary School has settled in and is looking ahead as the region's newest school community continues to grow.
Earlier this month the school hosted a training event for Department of Education Independent Public School (IPS) board members.
The event was an information session for those that are a part of IPS Boards and School Councils and was well attended with over 60 people representing a total of 10 primary and high schools across the South West Capes region.
Rapids Landing Principal Lisa Helenius said the large turnout demonstrated the community's interest in the future of local schools.
"Having such a large audience attend tonight shows the strong interest by communities to support their schools, especially in the area of strategic leadership," she said.
"Our appreciations to Matt Osborne from the Department of Education who presented the training and provided real life examples of effective Boards and Councils."
New chair of the Rapids Landing Primary School board Damien Bailey said the school was in a great position to create long term plans from the outset.
"We love that we can help our community by being a long term strategically focused, healthy and active Board," he said.
"The training was great. We look forward to continuing to grow Rapids Landing Primary School into the future!"
