Former Yallingup resident Steve Manoa is bringing his album launch tour to the region and will be playing at venues across Yallingup, Dunsborough and Margaret River in May.
Manoa spent five years in WA and is looking forward to bringing his soulful tunes to the South West when he tours his new album.
"I love the land, the ocean, the surf and the people, it is like a desert with open skies, it is beautiful I love the South West," he said.
"I was involved with the Surf Rider Foundation in Margaret River when I lived there, we ran the campaign which helped stop the oil leases off South West beaches.
"That was a while back now, I have been involved in a lot of different campaigns and studied marine biology as well."
Now based in Byron Bay the activist, eco-educator and roots musician, Manoa will play solo at Caves House on Thursday, May 4, the River on Friday, May 5 and as a band on Sunday, May 12 at Clancys in Dunsborough.
Having spent three years creating his first album, Manoa said it felt great to have finally finished the project.
"It is finally done and I am touring the album for the rest of the year, I got to work with some pretty amazing people on the project," he said.
"I recorded a few songs with Bobby Alu, who is an amazing singer songwriter and was Xavier Rudd's drummer."
"I started a crowdfunding campaign a while back and I am now sending out CD's to all the people who supported the campaign.
"It feels great to tour the album and show the music before I start working on new songs, it is a good feeling."
Manoa's deep love for the natural environment and sharing the story of an emergent regenerative culture empowering the earth and its people inspires much of his music.
"The first song off the album is about Molokai, which is a big volcano on the island of Hawaii, there is a beachy vibe on that song," he said.
"I love the ocean and I am a surfer I have always been influenced by the ocean and being in the water."
Manoa is taking the new EP on the road on an Australian national tour before heading overseas to tour the West Coast of the USA and Hawaii.
Audiences will be treated to Manoa's uplifting reggae grooves and laid-back folk melodies combining soulful vocals and conscious lyrics.
Ten per cent of EP sales will support a great cause being donated to ocean warriors, Positive Change for Marine Life.
