Had you heard about Truffle Kerfuffle before? What are you expecting?
I have and I am stoked to be able to come and spend the weekend and explore the region and cook with this amazing and unique product.
Would you call yourself a truffle lover? Have you used Manjimup truffles before?
I am a truffle lover and I love using them when they are in season. I have not used Manjimup truffles yet which is why I am super keen to do this event as I know they are some of the best in the world.
What is it about truffles that you like?
They are so unique and they are only around for a short period of time per year which makes them super special, add to that the taste and perfume they can add to a dish and there is good reason they are a much loved ingredient
What are some of your favourite ways to use truffles?
With eggs, meat, seafood, vegetables and desserts, they really are very versatile and I am excited to create some recipes using them and sharing them with the audience.
The Southern Forests region is renowned for producing high quality produce: Apples in particular the Bravo Apple, avocados, potatoes, pumpkins, nuts, all manner of fruit and vegetables, marron, meat, etc.
What can event-goers expect from your restaurant and events at Truffle Kerfuffle?
A lot of laughs, good times and of course great food and conversation.
When was the last time you were in WA for work? For holiday? Where did you go and what do you love about WA?
I was over recently for MKR and had a great surf with some mates in Margaret River area and got to enjoy some local restaurants that blew me away.
Can you describe some of your fondest memories of previous travels to WA?
There is so much history, culture and wisdom to learn from our Indigenous brothers and sisters, the Kimberley is a place that I love going back to time and time again.
The southern parts of WA has some of the best food and surf in the world and anywhere on the WA coastline is a great place to fish which is something that I love. Oh and I have skydived a few times in WA and it is freakin' beautiful from up there looking down.
You can catch Pete Evans at Truffle Kerfuffle in Manjimup at the Enchanted Southern Forests Feast from 7pm on Friday, June 21 and the Chef's Cabin, Cook with Love and Laughter.
Evans will also be demonstrating on the Winning Appliances and Asko Main Stage and cooking up a wholesome Sunday brunch at 10am on Sunday 23 June.
