Thanks to the success of last year's Nature Conservation Morning, Passel Estate is getting ready for their second annual event on the 30th May, to help continue with the strengthening of the estate's nature sanctuary, and in readiness for the release of two new possums.
The planting of native tube stocks was bountiful in 2018, with most of the young plants now well established.
"We have noticed an increase in the number of birds and other native creatures living in our reserve, and preparations are underway for the imminent soft release of more critically endangered Western Ringtail Possums into the sanctuary," said Sandy Wilson, Passel Estate's Tasting Room manager.
Owners Wendy and Barry Stimpson have invested in the build of two soft release enclosures located along the creek line in the bushland sanctuary.
"It is an extremely exciting time right now as we have just welcomed two new possums to our enclosures," said Mrs Stimpson.

"They are adjusting to life in the estate and we will be taking the final step of fully releasing them once the next stage of planting is complete. We have been working alongside FAWNA and other conservation groups, guided by the new code of practice for wildlife rehabilitation in Western Australia."
The owners say there is still a great deal of work to do to rehabilitate the creek line and strengthen the natural bushland habitat, to enhance the conservation ecosystem and create an ever more ideal environment for the critically endangered Western Ringtail Possums as well as the other native species that live on the estate.
Passel Estate is once again inviting friends and volunteers to join Wendy and Barry on Thursday May 30, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, to lend their support to creating the best environment for local fauna, by helping to plant a further 500 of tube stocks of a variety of native plants beneficial to native wildlife.
Volunteer efforts will be rewarded with a light lunch at the Tasting Room, which will be enjoyed with a complimentary glass of Passel Estate wine.
Volunteers are requested to please wear protective shoes and appropriate clothing for the bush and be prepared for wet weather on the day.
Gloves and trowels will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring their own favourites if they prefer, along with their own water bottle.
Please ensure registrations are completed before May 28, by emailing tastingroom@passelestate.com or calling 08 9717 624.
Numbers are strictly limited to ensure a safe and enjoyable morning for everybody.
