A special fundraiser will be held at Fair Harvest Permaculture Farm this weekend, aimed at raising awareness and supporting the efforts to halt the imminent felling of old growth Karri forest.
"It's outrageous that we still have to protest the clear felling of our native karri forests when we now have viable and sustainable options available," explained Fair Harvest's Jodie Lane.
"Lewin forest is an astoundingly beautiful old growth karri forest scheduled for clear felling by the State Government's Forest Products Commission, and we are calling on our community to come along and support the WA Forest Alliance and the Lewin Camp. People will be able to get up to date on the issues and find out what they can do to help, while having a great night out."
A line up of talented local musicians will be complemented by Zac Webb's welcome to country, discussions by Peter Lane and WA Forest Alliance convenor Jess Beckerling, Latin Dancing with Frederico from Agents of Dance and a meditation on Ecological Refuge with Ian Hackett.
Live music will include Mama Kin Spender, Moody Cow, Jen Stevens and more. Food will be available, and attendees are asked to BYO drinks, cups and bowls where possible and to take trash home, as the venue is a "no waste" zone.
The Winter Solstice Forest Fundraiser will kick off at 3pm this Saturday June 22 at Fair Harvest. Entry is $25pp, kids are free. For the full programme visit www.fairharvest.com.au
