Acclaimed Margaret River musician and songwriter Noah Shilkin will don the bedazzled specs once again as he takes to the River Hotel stage on Sunday for the latest in the popular 'Under the Influence' series.
The series focuses on an eclectic mix of musical genres and showcases talented locals playing their favourite tunes from their selected artists.
Shilkin was just 17 years old and playing a gig at the The Underground piano bar on Newcastle Street in Perth when a chance meeting with Elton John kicked off decades of admiration for the superstar.
"I wasn't old enough to be there!" said Shilkin of the encounter, which came about after Elton finished a show at the Perth Entertainment Centre.
"That night the seeds were sown!
The talented muso began studying piano at the age of four with the sisters at Sacred Heart Convent In Perth. At five he began singing in the synagogue choir, and says the "crazy collision" of the two spiritual worlds sparked a life-long passion for all things music.
"When you're a little kid who is obsessed with playing the piano, singing and making stuff up it's hard to ignore the likes of Elton John.
He was writing and recording songs and that's all I wanted to do!
"I didn't want to play footy or stuff like that - I drove my family nuts with my obsession," he said.
Shilkin has taken his Elton-esque performances to stages across the State and crowds arrive decked out in flamboyant glasses and 70s garb to embrace the party vibe.
Noah Shilkin plays Elton - Under the Influence at The River Hotel on Sunday July 14 from 4.00pm.
Entry is free and families are welcome in the venue's covered Winter Garden.
