Cowaramup Bulls Gold played Margaret River team, Hawks Navy, in gorgeous sunshine at Cowaramup oval across 9s and 11s grades on Saturday.

It was a hard day at the office for the 9s Gold Bulls with Hawks Navy showing great teamwork and skills and the Bulls team spent much of their time chasing and tackling and there was definitely lots of work for their defenders.

When the 11s sides hit the oval, the pressure really went up a notch with neither team giving the other an inch.

Hawks Navy had all the early play in their attack and Gold Bulls had to dig deep in defence to keep the scoring down.

The game began to turn in the second quarter as Bulls got their handball and teamwork going.

Cavan Payne's move into the ruck was a good one as Bulls began getting more of the ball.

Mack Weeks put the first of three goals for the day on the scoreboard, dishing off another to Hamish Murray in the goal square.

In the end, coach Mark Jolliffe summed up the game by lauding the kids for their perseverance all day, saying: "Good team footy will wear down any side."

Coaches awards went to Mackenzie Weeks, Avion Packer and Jarrad Taylor.

Meanwhile, Cowaramup Bulls Red travelled to Augusta for 9s and 11s games and both teams had good days out.

While the scores aren't kept officially in 9s games, the Bulls Red team have pencilled this one in as their first 'win' for the season and a huge boost for the team.

Coaches awards went to Lani, Beau and Oliver.

In the 11s game, coach Adam Semenow said the team played a 'cracker' in a massive team effort with excellent skills on display.

The 11s team had to call on several of the 9s players to play up and all three did an amazing job. Coaches awards went to Griff Mammone, Ezra Mann and Raph Juniper.
