A first for junior Gropers as rugby comes to town

Players from the Margaret River Gropers, The Bunbury Bulls, Busselton Beetles and Bunbury Barbarians will descend on Gloucester Park this Sunday August 25 to play Round 13 of the current season.

Margaret River Junior Rugby spokesperson Narelle Rodley said 2019 was the first year the club had entered a team in the competition.

"Now with a lot of momentum, we have the people in place to host our first home fixture," she said.

"We currently have an amazing Under 8's team and hope to develop an Under 6's, Under 10's and Under 12s team for next season."

On Sunday the Under 12's will kick start the day at 11am on the Main Oval, while the Under 8's Gropers team will play two games at 12pm and 1.20pm on Nippers Oval.

"The team would love to see lots of local support cheering them on.

"Our parents will have a small canteen running at Nippers Oval fundraising for the club.

"This event is a must for anyone interested in Rugby Union or would like to get involved with the South West Junior Rugby Competition in the future."
