After a huge 22 years since an Augusta Margaret River junior football team secured a grand final win, the 2019 Year 9 team united as one for the first time and showed the South West Junior Football League exactly how it was done.
On Saturday afternoon the Year 9 Hawks travelled north to Hands Oval in Bunbury to face their South Bunbury counterparts on home turf.
The air was full of excited nerves from the players, coaching staff and spectators.
In a fast paced and energetic game, South Bunbury pushed all day but just couldn't find the points to take the lead.
The home side found themselves within 11 points of the visitors in the last quarter but the young Hawks came storming home strong.
Special mention and thank you to this season's coaching staff - Mark "Gribo" Graham, Greg "Fish" Fisher, Steve "Cass" Cassidy and Hamish Worsley, and a huge congratulations to Harvey Fisher for being awarded Best on Ground.
Final score Hawks 12.11-83 to South Bunbury 6.11-47.
