Bunbury Police have called on the public for information after a 'distressing' incident on Bussell Highway which saw a screwdriver launched through the window of a woman's vehicle.
Police said the incident occurred about 2pm on Saturday, October 5, as the woman was travelling southbound towards Busselton, just before Capel Drive.
A black vehicle, believed to be a Holden Captiva SUV or similar, allegedly travelled past the woman's car at speed before the screwdriver was launched at her vehicle, shattering the window and narrowly missing the victim's face and eyes.
The incident was witnessed by the woman's 14-year-old daughter, who recorded footage and took photographs from the passenger seat that were later handed to Bunbury Police.
Bunbury Police acting senior sergeant Steve Harding confirmed that although the pair were said to be shaken by the incident, neither were injured.
The Bunbury Mail understands the screwdriver has now been collected and forensic testing is now underway.
In a post on social media, the woman described the life threatening incident as "incredibly distressing" and said she hoped other vehicles in the vicinity may have captured footage of the incident on their dash cam.
"I am hoping they are willing to come forward as witnesses as well," she said.
"We need to get these lunatics off the road before they actually kill someone."
Sergeant Steve Harding urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, including two motorcyclists that were in the vicinity at the time.
Anyone with information should contact Bunbury Police on (08) 9722 2111.
