New wheels for Margaret River Lions deliveries

Club spokesperson Brian Prendergast said the truck was secured after some hearty negotiating.

"We received a grant to assist with the purchase of the truck and also sold our old vehicle, and then we were pleased to get a really great deal on the price," said Mr Prendergast.

"We are very grateful to the Margaret River Sign Company who were a big help in adding the Lions Club signage to the truck."

Club President Nigel Vangucci said the truck was vital to the group providing essential help to locals in need.

"We often step in where entire houses full of furniture, clothing and other items are needed to urgently help families in our community.

"Our old truck was in need of replacement and we are thrilled to have been able to secure the new wheels, which will help us to help even more families in need."

The Lions have also installed new security measures including cameras aimed at reducing thefts and incidents of illegal dumping at their Shed headquarters.

"Unfortunately the cameras have already captured footage of people simply driving up here and taking things as they please," said Mr Vangucci.

"As always we encourage people to speak to us if they need help with furniture or other items rather than resorting to theft."
