Riders young and old are celebrating the news that the Cowaramup BMX Track is officially open for all ages and rider levels to ride and enjoy.
The grand opening of the track took place on Saturday, and marks a new era for BMXing in Cowaramup and the wider region after a period of closure during the refurbishment.
The public track upgrade and redesign will remain shared by Cowaramup BMX members, the wider community, school groups, tourists and visitors to region.
The collaborative project was delivered by the Cowaramup BMX Club with funding through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the Augusta Margaret River Shire, Sports Australia, and local professional and skilled businesses.
Cowaramup BMX Club spokesperson Nicole Lincoln said the revamped, redesigned track would improve skills and techniques for a wider group of riders, from mini wheelers to adults.
"The track offers additional roller style jumps, and more technical elements to keep the interest of older skilled participants, while also catering for all age groups and lower experience levels," she said.
Local dignitaries Ian Earl and Julia Meldrum joined BMX Club Presidents past and present Andy Male and Jon Healy to officially open the fabulous new BMX track.
The opening was followed by racing demonstrations by National BMX riders Niko and Dylan.
