Songbirds of the South West is a collaboration of eight musicians and six vocalists from the South West region who have combined, when the opportunity allows, to perform and pay tribute to some of the great jazz vocalists.
The group first performed in January 2017 and showcases the talent from across the Capes region.
Performances have included community events in Cowaramup and Margaret River, and the group will soon land in Augusta on Sunday November 3 for a special concert at the Centennial Hall.
The Songbirds perform works from Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Astrid Gilberto, Peggy Lee, Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse.
Earlier this year, the group performed in Perth at the Ellington Jazz venue to a sold out audience.
The group has also been a crowd favourite at the Dunsborough Jazz by the Bay Festival in 2018 and 2019, boasting familiar faces and toe-tapping tunes for all ages.
Local Augusta guitarist Kevin Jones will feature in the upcoming performance, as well as Dr Louise Marsh from Augusta Clinic on saxophone and vocals.
Along with the sublime vocals of Andrea Frances, Janine Andrews, Michelle Spriggs, Tilly Kelleher and Scott Wise, this incredible band also includes Gary Larkin (drums), Sean Lillico (keyboards) and Viv Booker (double bass).
David Rastrick (trumpet), Mike Wiese (baritone sax, clarinet) and Kevin Jones (trombone & flute) round out the all-star band.
Songbirds of the South West will perform at the Augusta Centennial Hall in a cabaret seating format on Sunday November 3.
Doors open at 2.30pm with the concert to commence from 3.00pm.
Tickets ($22) are available from the Augusta Clinic or on line at www.artsmargaretriver.com. Patrons are invited to BYO own afternoon tea to the concert.
