Nic Stone to be remembered at Organic Garden gathering

Ms Stone passed earlier this month at the age of 55, and close friend Margot Edwards said the artist, clown doctor and devoted parent would be celebrated with honour.

"Nic lived here with her parents Chrissy and Tony Stone during the 60s and early 70s. Tony was building supervisor for the Shire during that time - many people may remember her family.

"She attended Margaret River High School until Year 10 and many of her old classmates will still be living here.

"She was highly involved with the Crash Bang Circus in the early 90s and countless other creative community projects, especially during her time living out at Bruce and Jan Allen's place at Juniper Road, which was in many ways her spiritual home.

"Her son Ben is a gifted artist, living and working abroad and around Australia; and still comes and goes from his dad Matt's place in Karridale. Nic is much missed by her family and her huge community of friends."

Ms Edwards said the morning would be used to create a living memorial to the much-loved Stone.

"Nic was so gifted with her hands and passionately loved the South West bush and coast, so we'll be creating a Nature Mandala in her honour, for those who wish to join in," explained Margot.

"Please bring flowers, petals, gumnuts, shells, stones, leaves etc if you can.

"We'll also be planting a pink Peace rose in the garden for Nic during the morning, so there will be somewhere to come visit in your own time too.

"The Cafe will be open, so get your coffee and cake, and wander into the garden when it suits you, to join us for a time and to share your memories and reflections."

Local musician Tony Lane will provide music while the mandala is created.

The Margaret River Organic Garden will host Nic Stone's memorial this Saturday November 2 from 9.30am.
