Artist Mel Brigg's solo exhibition Journey Through the Red Centre will be held at Studio Gallery from November 16 to December 9, 2019.
Originally from South Africa, Brigg now lives and works from his studio in Queensland.
Journey Through the Red Centre is the result of Mel's recent trip travelling the centre of Australia, a journey he and his wife Heather dreamed of doing for the past 20 years.
A master of light, Brigg captures the spiritual essence of the Red Centre - sharing the joy he received in exploring the landscape, meeting locals and gaining real insight into the outback spirit.
Their first stop was in Lightening Ridge, opal mining country, Brigg said it was a real eye opener, wild and rough, so different to anything he had seen before.
From there the couple traveled to Broken Hill, Port Augusta and then up to Coober Pedi.
Continuing on, Uluru was an experience Brigg would never forget - the size, colours and spirituality all touched a place inside for him.
A ten day stint around Alice Springs and the McDonald Ranges added to the inspiration that saturated Brigg with endless painting ideas.
To celebrate the exhibition Brigg will be joining Studio Gallery for the official opening from 5pm until 6pm on Saturday November 16.
All are welcome to attend, with a chance to win a lucky door prize of an original Mel Brigg painting presented by the artist himself (must be in attendance to win).
Prior to the official opening, an exclusive preview and dinner with the artist will be held on Friday November November 15.
Paintings will be released for sale at the exclusive preview dinner. Tickets to the event are $120, bookings are essential.
