Margaret River surfers Jack Robinson and Jacob Wilcox have been competing this week in Hawaii at the Haleiwa Pro contest which has a 10,000 point Qualifying Series ranking. Both local surfers are comfortable in the powerful waves which have been triple overhead during the contest. Robinson broke his board during a heat but still managed to win over local charger Billy Kemper. The legendary right hander is a high performance wave and suits both the riders with their powerful turns and air game. There looks to be good surf forecast for the rest of the week and once this contest is complete they move straight onto the Vans World Cup at Sunset Beach for the final event of the year. Both Robinson and Willcox have the opportunity to qualify for the 2020 World Tour with good results from these contests and it's exciting times for WA surfing.
Meanwhile, the Australian Junior Surfing Titles will be held at Margaret River Mainbreak and the contest runs from November 30 - December 7. The 2019 Titles will incorporate multiple divisions including Under 14 Grommet Boys & Girls, U16 Cadet Men & Women and the U18 Junior Men & Women as well as the School Surfing Titles. Local grommets Emma Cattlin, Otis North and Dylan Vernon will be competing in the event and have been training hard with coach Mike Mcauliffe. Local knowledge will help the WA representatives, especially if the waves get big at the famed reef break.
