MR Gold - Stage 2 Vs YOBS Sharks @ Churchill Park
Round 5 saw MR Gold travel to Churchill Park to clash with YOBS Sharks on a beautiful summer's morning.
After some wonderful performances over the last two rounds, MR Gold were looking to continue their outstanding development this season.
Having lost the toss, MR Gold were sent in to bat and openers Culann and Mitch got the team off to a great start, both reaching retirement.
Max (6 runs), batting at the very important position of number 3, struck his first runs for the season and achieved a wonderful milestone by retiring for the first time this season.
He was backed beautifully by Sonny (7 runs) and MR Gold were 0/43 going into the drinks break.
Following the drinks break, Sam (14 runs) and Andy (19 runs) lift the run rate with smart running between wickets before retiring and with some strong hitting from Sawyer (36 runs), MR Gold moved beyond the 100-run team total. Caspian (7 runs), Kalan and Reuben finished off the inning strong with MR Gold finishing their 26 overs on 1/150.
MR Gold opened their bowling with Reuben and Kalan who both bowled very well.
Consistent line and length saw the pressure build up on the batters with our first 13 overs bring only 37 runs, whilst picking up 4 wickets.
With the pressure applied in the first 13 overs, YOBS tried to accelerate their scoring but great fielding and tight bowling made things very difficult for the YOBS batters.
YOBS were eventually dismissed, all out, in the 26 over for a total of 91 runs.
Pick of the bowlers were Max (3/15) and Caspian (1/6 off 3 overs).
Another great performance by the MR Gold team, who are very supportive of each other and enjoy watching their team mates achieve individual milestones.
