The new owners of Leeuwin Takeaway were left devastated on Monday morning when they arrived to open their small family business to find thieves had cleared out their freezers.
Owner Tony Rensen has just taken over the business at Monahans and was in their second week of trading when the theft occurred.
"It is pretty disappointing," he said.
"They have just broken in and while there is no malicious damage to the premises they emptied all our stock out the back and took around $3,500 worth of seafood.
"They also took the safe and cut the phone lines.
"Hopefully we can get to Bunbury to buy some more stock and get open again as quickly as possible, obviously the phone lines are an issue."
Mr Rensen said it was a really weird feeling to find his business had been targetted after only being open for a short time.
"We had a really hard time opening the shop in the first place and experienced issues with the lease, the shop had sat closed for three weeks," he said.
"We came in and gave the shop a new paint job and refreshed the store before we opened again.
"We had just found our feet now we have to restock the freezer with thousands of dollars worth of food.
"It is heartbreaking that we could not trade at the start of one of the busiest times of the year, but we will do what we need to do to get the store open again."
