Eleven-year old William Duncan has started a Grow Free stand outside his family's Jindong farm where people can leave food items they won't use and take some items they will.
William said his stand was all about people sharing food they have and do not need.
"People can take as much as they like, but we really do not want them taking the entire lot," he said.
"It has been working very well, we have been leaving food here for people and people have been leaving their food here.
"If it is something we do not have and need, we take it."
William said some people had left donations which he would use to buy more seeds to grow food.
"It all came about because we had grown too much in our vegie patch, it was all overflowing," he said.
"We did not really want to sell it because we knew some people had their money stolen, we did not want people to come and take everything from the cart.
"Everyone thinks the Grow Free stand is really cool and a really nice idea."
