Australia is about to be spoiled with eight headline art exhibitions showing in early 2020, spread across the best galleries on the east coast.

Works by Matisse and Picasso will grace the halls of the capital's National Gallery of Australia. NGV International in Melbourne welcomes the Keith Haring/Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines exhibition, while contemporary artist KAWS' works will explore the age of loneliness.

Just outside Melbourne in Bulleen, the Heide Museum of Modern Art has an installation by Jess Johnson and Simon Ward, called Terminus.

Sydney has Quilty, the first major survey exhibition from contemporary artist Ben Quilty in a decade, at the Art Gallery of NSW and British artist Cornelia Parker at the MCA.

GOMA in Brisbane is also having a "Water" themed summer program featuring more than 40 works by international and Australian artists, including the return of Cai Guo-Qiang's installation Heritage.

Archie Rose's airport pop-up

The distillery from inner-city Rosebery has popped up at Sydney Airport's International Terminal.

Settle in at the 16-seat cocktail bar for a manhattan, martini or one of the signature cocktails, all crafted from Archie Rose gin, whisky or vodka. The distillery is known for its Signature Dry Gin but also has a few new releases, including the Sydney Opera House collaborations, Inside Gin and Outside Gin. The bar will be open till February 2020 for all your pre-and-post-flight libations.

Ride the rails in style on the Great Southern

Australia's newest passenger rail journey, the Great Southern, has launched this month.

Operated by Journey Beyond, which also runs The Ghan and Indian Pacific, the service covers nearly 3000 kilometres between Adelaide and Brisbane. It's a luxury rail experience with stylish suites, all-inclusive meals, fine wines and beverages. The menu is regionally inspired and paired with local wines.

Adelaide to Brisbane takes three days and two nights and the fare includes off-train experiences in the Grampians, Canberra or the Murrumbateman wine region, and Coffs Harbour. Prices start at $1779 per person.

New Qantas Frequent Flyer deal

Qantas Frequent Flyers can now earn points, receive tier benefits and book reward seats across all flights operated by Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Frequent flyers with Gold status or higher will receive tier benefits including priority boarding, priority check-in and extra baggage allowance on Air France and KLM. Members will also be able to redeem Classic Flight Reward seats across the airlines' economy and business cabins.
