The community has come together to support a popular local volunteer after his vehicle and work tools were stolen just over a week before Christmas.
Carpenter and Naturaliste Volunteer Marine Rescue vice-commander and search coordinator Paul Bresland, also known as 'Hammy', had his ute stolen after he returned from an afternoon diving.
The vehicle, which contained a secured box with about $30,000 worth of work tools, was later discovered burnt out in Meelup Park on Sunday, December 15.
A police investigation into the incident is underway, but, in the meantime, his friends and volunteer colleagues have been busy making sure he gets the support he needs.
Fellow marine rescue volunteer Dominic Widlake established a GoFundMe page for the longtime local, raising almost $7,000 in just seven days.
As a local volunteer, Mr Widlake said Mr Bresland had given so much to his community, and now was an opportunity for the community to give back.
"As soon as I heard, I went home and set up a go fund me page," he said.
"As a carpenter by trade, without his tools he is unable to work - he's been doing labourer work to try and earn some income.
"We want him to be able to return to work.
"Over many, many years as a dedicated member of our Dunsborough community, he has given extensive time and effort to many community organisations and causes.
"He was also a major voice and presence in the retaining and the future upgrade of the Canal Rocks boat ramp.
"The guy is such a good bloke, and he's given so much to this community. He's such a proud guy, too.
"He is a giver who keeps on giving and has always been a true pillar of our community.
"The marine rescue committee hosted a meeting just before Christmas and gave him a donation and he was so grateful.
"He knows about the GoFundMe page, but he hasn't seen all of the wonderful comments yet.
"I plan to show him next week."
The target for the fundraiser is currently set at $10,000, and Mr Widlake said he hoped the community would help them reach that goal.
"If we can hit that goal, I think that would be a great result for someone who spends his life giving to this community," he said.
The donations have been sent to Naturaliste Volunteer Marine Rescue group and will be distributed to Mr Bresland in mid January.
